the Expanded Executive Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009, an emergency meeting at the ministerial level at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah. The meeting will discuss the dangerous situation in Gaza resulting from the Israeli forces atrocities against the Palestinian people, and to secure the urgent and complete lifting of the embargo imposed on the Strip. In Addition to that, the OIC Secretary General, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, made phone calls with Turkish President, Abdullah Gul, Senegalese President, Abdoulaye Wade, Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, Turkish Foreign Minister, Ali Babacan, Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, Uganda Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Kutesa, Khaled Meshaal, the Head of Hamas Political Bureau, as well as the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Amr Moussa. The talks examined the ways of mobilizing immediate international support to permanently end the Israeli persecution of the Palestinian people.
