Qa'da 04, 1431 / Oct. 12, 2010, SPA -- The 9th Session of the Standing Committee on Information and Cultural Affairs (COMIAC) was opened here today. The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of this session. Then, Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade delivered a speech welcoming the participants in the meeting. The Senegalese President thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his constant support for the OIC and the COMIAC. Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz Khajoh delivered a speech conveying greetings of Saudi leaders to the Senegalese President and the conference. The minister highlighted the importance of cooperation among OIC member states and underlined efforts by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to promote dialogue with followers of the other divine religions within the framework of correcting the image of Islam to live in the work peacefully away form extremism and terrorism. The Senegalese President commented on the minister's speech expressing thanks to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his support for Senegal and the Islamic nation. The president also thanked the kingdom for its care for the session and the personal participation by the minister in it.
