A landslide buried four houses and a car in Bontang, East Kalimantan Province, on Monday, forcing a number of residents to evacuate themselves to safer area, ANTARA reported. The landslide also cut off land transportation as it buried a 100-meter-stretch of road, North Bontang Police Chief Adjunct Commissioner Tigor Parulian said here on Tuesday. There was no report of casualties in the disaster, he said. The landslide was triggered by incessant downpours over the past few days. Indonesia is currently in the rainy season and a number of provinces including Aceh, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, and Central Sulawesi have experienced big floods due to the increased rainfall.
