The Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Ali Al-Hamdan and the Head of the Saudi relief delegation Sultan Al Subaie met here on Tuesday with Yemen's Deputy Prime Minister for Internal Affairs Sadeq Ameen Abu-Ras. At the outset of the meeting, the Yemeni official welcomed the Saudi delegation, noting the distinct relations between the leaderships and peoples of the two countries. Giving an account on the damage and material losses suffered by Hadramawt Valley as a result of the heavy rains and overwhelming floods, the Yemeni official said the number of completely-destroyed houses amounted to 3,200 and the death toll stood at 68 so far. However, he lauded the efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia in support of Yemen to overcome this crisis. He drew the attention that Saudi Arabia's support to Yemen amounting to U.S. $ 100 million is the largest among the international aid that arrived in Yemen. For his part, Al-Hamdan revealed that the first cargo plane within a Saudi relief airlift to Yemen ordered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to alleviate the sufferings of the flood-hit people will arrive in Yemen on Saturday November 01, 2008.
