A Shoura delegation participated in the coordination meeting of the Arab Group of International Parliamentary Union (IPU) to support the adoption of amendments to be undertaken by the IPU Council to ensure a permanent seat for Palestine in the Union. The Arab Group also agreed to nominate Rashid Mohammed Khalfan Al-Sharifi from the United Arab Emirates to replace the representative of the Arab group in the Executive Committee of the International Parliamentary Union Abdulwahid Al-Radhi of the Moroccan parliament. The meeting discussed the emergency item submitted by the United Arab Emirates and Egypt to address the global financial crisis. The Arab Group agreed to support this item to be on the agenda of the General Assembly of the Union. The Shoura Council delegation participating in the meeting consists of the Secretary-General of the Shoura Council Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi and a number of members and advisors of Shoura Council.
