The seismic network stations across the UAE (United Arab Emirates) detected 17 tremors in the aftershocks of the earthquake that hit the Iranian port city of Bandher Abbas last Wednesday afternoon, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported yesterday. The Network, an affiliate of the UAE National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology, had primarily detected the earthquake, the epicentre of which was the Iranian Island of Qeshm in the Arabian Gulf. The intensive seismic activity and the tremors that followed ranged between 3.7 and 5.2 on the Richter scale, according to a statement from the Centre. There were also a number of light tremors, which were not felt. The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology assured that the seismic activity does not pose any danger on UAE as the epicentre situates 320 km far from Abu Dhabi, 205km from Dubai, 180km from Sharjah and a hundred km from the northern emirates.
