The Department of Humanitarian Affairs of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) supervised on Saturday (August 9, 2008), the dispatch of a second aid convoy, part of a campaign to assist the Palestinian people in Gaza. The convoy included foodstuffs, relief equipment and medicine. The aid convoy was conducted in cooperation with the Saudi Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF), a subsidiary organ of the OIC. The convoy is expected to reach Gaza by the end of this week. In the meantime, the OIC Department of Humanitarian Affairs is completing preparations to dispatch a third convoy by the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, as part of its campaign to help the Palestinian people, according to its press release.
