US dollar higher, gold up in European trading

The U.S. dollar was higher against other
major currencies in European trading Tuesday. Gold rose, AP reported.
The euro traded at US$1.5838, down from US$1.5893 late
Monday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
_ 106.84 Japanese yen, up from 106.75
_ 1.0250 Swiss francs, up from 1.0212
_ 1.0063 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0017
The British pound was quoted at US$1.9974, down from
$1.9984.
Gold traded in London at US$961.50 per troy ounce, up from
US$960.50 Monday.
