Unidentified gunmen shot dead a city police chief in Buinaksk, the Republic of Dagestan, late on Monday. A city law enforcement source told Itar-Tass that Colonel Magomed-Arip Aliev was killed at around 23:10 Moscow time. According to police sources, the attackers fired from submachine-guns at Aliev's foreign made car and later escaped from the scene. The Buinaksk police have launched a plan to find and detain the assaulters.
