Three earthquakes jolted Yakutia on Monday, the press service of the Far Eastern regional centre of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. “The earth tremors were registered at about 18:00, Moscow time, Monday and were repeating at intervals of an hour,” a ministry official said. According to him, the first earthquake occurred 160 kilometers northwest of the Khonuu settlement of the Momsky district. Its epicenter was located at a depth of 33 kilometers and magnitude - 5.9 points. Another earthquake that had a magnitude of 4.9 points occurred in the same area some time later. The third earth tremor was weaker. Its epicenter was located 150.5 kilometers northwest of Khonuu at a depth of 33 kilometers. “According to a report of the duty officer of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations' main department for the Yakutia republic, the earthquakes were not felt in the republic's settlements. There have been no casualties or destruction,” the ministry's Far Eastern centre reported.
