Twelve people died in two major traffic accidents in the Moscow and Tula regions, the press service of the central regional emergencies centre told Itar-Tass on Monday. “An Audi and a VAZ-2108 collided at 09.00 p.m. Moscow time in the Shchukino district of the Tula region on the third kilometer of the Lapotkino-Yefremov highway,” the press service said. Five people died and a man was injured in the traffic accident. He was brought to the Shchukino district hospital in severe condition. Another major traffic accident occurred about at the same time in the Moscow region. Four cars collided on the 23rd kilometer of the Yaroslavskoye highway, the press service specified. “Two cars caught fire, and the fire had been put down only by 10.00 p.m. Moscow time,” the press service said. Road policemen and rescuers have been working at the scene up to now. “The traffic in the accident area is tough,” the press service said.
