Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Manie patronized today at Riyadh Marriott the opening of an International conference on "Thalassaemia disease and sickle-cell anemia." The conference convened under the title of "Hand in hand towards a better life," is organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF). Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ali Al-Qahtani, the Director General of Hospitals said the organization of this Conference comes in the framework of the Ministry's persistence to disseminate awareness among the community of the danger of Thalassaemia and Sickle-cell anemia which is commonly observed in Saudi Arabia, especially in its Southern Region, Eastern Province and Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah region and is primarily caused by inter-relatives marriages in these areas. --MORE
