A tectonic quake measuring 3.4 on the Richter Scale rocked Yogyakarta at 22:18 local time on Monday, ANTARA reported. Head of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency in Yogyakarta Tiar Prasetya said on Monday evening the epicenter of the quake was located 10 km deep in the ground 7.5 degrees South Latitude and 110 degrees East Longitude at a point where the Opak and Oya rivers meet in Bantul district, Yogyakarta. Based on reports from local residents, the tremblor which lasted several seconds was also felt by people in the city of Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta in 2006 was jolted by a 5,9 magnitude quake, killing over 5000 people and destroying thousands of houses.
