Tokyo stocks ended higher Friday after an overnight rise in the US market, DPA reported. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average jumped 222.13 points, or 1.81 per cent, to end at 12,482.57. The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also up 23.74 points, or 1.98 per cent, at 1,220.04. For the week, Nikkei rose 1.97 per cent, and Topix also went up 2.25 per cent. On currency markets at midday (0300 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 99.41-46 yen, almost unchanged from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 99.45-55 yen in New York. The Tokyo markets were closed Thursday for a national holiday. The euro was quoted at 1.5420-25 dollars, down from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 1.5424-34 dollars in New York, and at 153.33-38 yen, down from 153.50-60 yen.
