Naimi noted that the center of petroleum studies and researches will conduct researches and applied studies pertaining to the petroleum industry including exploration, drilling , development, production and refining. He pointed out that the center will play a pioneering role in the field of studies and energy researches at the Kingdom's and international arenas. He said the center will cooperate with the Saudi and international universities and research centers. Al-Naimi said Saudi Aramco is one of the pioneering companies in the field of researches and studies which are linked with the technology of exploration and drilling gas and petroleum. He noted that the research and development center at Saudi Aramco has been cooperating with so many universities and specialized research centers. Saudi Aramco has obtained 65 international patents and is registering with 130 new patents, he noted. On his part, Dr Mohammed al-Suweil, the President of KACST, shed light on the importance of scientific researches. He praised the support given by King Abdullah bin Abdul-aziz to sciences and technology, and said SR 8 billion have been allocated for that purpose at this year's general budget. --MORE
