The Eighth International Contest for the Memorization and Recitation of the holy Quran was concluded at Moscow Grand Mosque today. Sixty male and female Quran readers from Russia and Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Turkey, Iran, India and Azerbaijan took part in the contest. Dr. Nabeel bin Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ismael, Riyadh-based Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University professor and member of the contest's arbitration committee, lauded the level of the contesters. Abdullah Ali Akbar, a contester from Kyrgyzstan, won the Quran memorization prize while Mohammed Sajjad Jandami, from Iran, came first of the Quran reciters. Embassies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman and Kuwait presented special premiums to winners.
