An earthquake with estimated 6.1 magnitude on the Richter scale shook the Amazonian rainforest Saturday in Brazil, but no significant damage was reported, according to DPA. The epicentre was at an estimated depth of 600 kilometres below the border between the Brazilian states of Acre and Amazonas, the Brazilian Seismology Institute spokesman Lucas Vieira de Barros said in Brasilia. Due to the depth of the epicentre, the strong quake was only felt slightly by people in the Amazon River basin, the institute reported. There was no serious damage, according to initial reports in the Brazilian media.
