THE DECISION TO SET UP AN UNDERSECRETARIAT FOR CONSUMER AFFAIRS AT THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY WAS LAUDED BY A NUMBER OF BUSINESSMEN, CITING THE NEED TO PROTECT CONSUMERS AGAINST HARMFUL MARKET BEHAVIOR, FORGED GOODS AND UNDER-QUALITY PRODUCTS. IN INTERVIEWS WITH THE SAUDI PRESS AGENCY, A NUMBER OF BUSINESSMEN SAID THE DECISION BY THE CABINET LAST WEEK CAME TO RECONSIDER THE RELATION BETWEEN CONSUMER AND MERCHANT AND TO PUT MORE ORGANIZED POLICIES TO REVIVE THIS RELATION. THEY INCLUDE ABDULRAHMAN AL-JERAISI, CHAIRMAN OF THE RIYADH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, ABDULAZIZ BIN MOHAMMED AL-AZL, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF RIYADH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, AHMED BIN SULEIMAN AL-RAJHI, MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF RIYADH CHAMBER, SULEIMAN BIN ABDULQADER AL-MIHAIDEB, MEMBER OF RIYADH CHAMBER, AND KHALID AL-MIQRIN, CHAIRMAN OF THE STOCK MARKET COMMITTEE AT THE RIYADH CHAMBER.
