Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Riyadh region, patronized here on Tuesday evening a ceremony organized by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) to mark the 50th anniversary of its establishment.?Speaking on the occasion, Prince Salman highlighted the great strides made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in various domains, notably in the development of the economy.?He noted that economic activity in the Kingdom is based on free enterprise in the light of Islamic teachings.?Prince Salman highlighted the existing cooperation between the private and public sectors.?He thanked Allah Almighty for the bounties bestowed on the Kingdom since its unification under the leadership of King Abdulaziz.? He added that Riyadh is a capital that is open for all, reiterating his readiness to meet with members of the Chamber to exchange views on issues of mutual interest. Abdurrahman Al-Jeraisey, the Chairman of the RCCI Board of Directors, lauded the support extended by Prince Salman to the Chamber. He said that the history of the Chamber dates back to 1372H when Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Miqeirin and a number of merchants of Riyadh requested the establishment of the Chamber, and their request was realized in 1381H.?? Al-Jeraisey shed light on the contributions made by the Chamber and its efforts to establish a fruitful partnership with government departments as well as its role in updating economic legislation and in training Saudi youth.? ?The Chamber's Secretary General Hussein Al-Azl praised the role played by merchants and businessmen in the establishment of the Chamber and expressed appreciation for the support extended in this respect by Prince Salman.? Al-Azl hailed the efforts exerted by Prince Salman to turn Riyadh into a modern city which is capable of competing with capitals around the world. ‘We cannot speak about Riyadh city without mentioning the vital role played by Prince Salman in its development,” he said.? Saad Al-Mijil, the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors, highlighted the importance of establishing an international center for exhibitions and said it had come in line with a Royal order in 1417H.?He noted that the center contains national products which will contribute to boosting national industry.? Al-Mijil hailed the generous support being extended to the development of the center by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan. Prince Salman visited an exhibition of historical photographs organized on the occasion and watched a documentary film on the RCCI. He then honored Abdullah Bin Ahmad Zainal Alireza, Minister of Commerce and Industry, as well as former and current members of the Chamber's Board of Directors.
