Cabinet hailed for food security decisions
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 05 - 2008

A number of Saudi businessmen hailed the long- and short-range arrangements approved by the Council of Ministers under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz last Monday, to achieve food security in the Kingdom.
They hailed the cabinet for approving measures to provide basic and essential food commodities for citizens and expatriates, alleviate the burden borne by citizens due to drastic rise in the prices of supplies, and agricultural and livestock products, and to insure the needs of the country's goods without the fluctuation or disappearance of supplies of some of them.
They emphasized that such plans are in the interest of citizens and ensuring the preservation of the high and honorable standards of living, although the causes that led to the crisis of rising prices of food commodities are essentially external, incurred by various nations of the world, throwing its shadows over the local markets and mounting pressure on citizens inside.
In interviews on those plans, the prominent businessmen described the decisions as a genuine exercise of responsibility of the nation's leader towards his people.
They said the decisions represent a wise response of the leadership of the Kingdom to face difficult circumstances and changes that inflict a great burden on the citizen, and also embody the high sense of leadership and its permanent care of its people's concerns.
They expressed their appreciation for the scientific and thoughtful way to face this crisis, seeking long-term remedy for the problem.
Those interviewed include Abdulrahman Bin Ali Al-Jeraisi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Abdulaziz Bin Mohammed Al-Athl, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RCCI, Mohammed Bin Abdullah Abu-Nayan, Chairman of the agricultural committee at RCCI, and Sulaiman Bin Abdulqader Al-Mihaideb, member of the RCCI's Board of Directors and Chairman of the commercial committee at RCCI.
