A 15-year-old boy who allegedly performed a Caesarian section in an attempt to enter record books, surrendered before a juvenile court in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu Wednesday, news reports said, according to dpa. Dileepan Raj's father K Murugesan had claimed before a gathering of Indian Medical Association (IMA) members in Manapparai town in Tamil Nadu on May 5 that the teenager had performed the operation on a pregnant 20-year-old woman at the family's medical clinic, IANS news agency reported. The teenager's parents, who are physicians, allegedly wanted him to enter record books as the youngest person to have performed such a surgery. Murugesan had shown the IMA gathering a video recording of his son performing the surgery. The state government later ordered an investigation into the incident and the boy's parents were arrested. They are currently in judicial custody and face charges of endangering peoples' lives and abetting a crime. The police said the boy was missing and they were looking for him. His lawyers sought anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court which refused to admit the plea and told the police to produce him before the Juvenile Justice Board as soon as he was arrested. When Raj, accompanied by his lawyers, surrendered to the Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday, the court has asked him to avail himself for the investigation against his parents.
