Pakistan and Britain have underscored the need for enhanced cooperation and closer interaction between the armed forces of the two countries, said an official statement. This was discussed at a meeting between Pakistan's Defense Production Secretary Lt-Gen (retd) Shahid Siddiq Tirmizey and the visiting British Deputy Chief of Defense Staff (Commitments), Vice Admiral Charles Stylewho. Style informed Siddiq that the UK gave higher priority to its ties with Pakistan as the two countries had strategic relations based on shared interests. He said that there existed a vast scope of cooperation between the two countries and Britain was keen to promote cooperation with Pakistan to the maximum extent for the mutual benefit of the two sides. The British side conveyed that they were encouraging UK companies to invest in the defense production sector of Pakistan. Siddiq told Style that cooperation between the two countries needed to be further enhanced particularly in the area of defense.
