Pakistan and Egypt have expressed their resolve to further consolidate their relations particularly in the field of defense, says an official statement. This was agreed between the defense officials of Pakistan and Egypt during the 6th Meeting of Pak-Egypt Military Cooperation Committee. The Pakistani side was led by Rear Admiral Ahsan-ul-Haq Chaudhri, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defense, while the Egyptian side was led by Major General Mukhtar Mohammed Mukhtar El-Mula, Counselor to Minister of Defense for Military Colleges & Educational Institutes & Morale Affairs. The meeting discussed a wide range of proposals pertaining to the enhancement of defense cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the ongoing military cooperation and underlined the need for closer cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries particularly in the areas of military training, joint exercises and sale and purchase of defense equipments. The meeting agreed to put the potential and capabilities of the two countries together for the benefit of the to armed forces. It also identified a number of areas of military cooperation and listed guidelines for the year ahead. Pakistan-Egypt Military Cooperation Committee (MCC) was established in 1997 with the principal purpose to enhance and strengthen military cooperation between the two countries. It has been holding regular meeting since its establishment and has achieved considerable progress in the area of military cooperation.
