Pakistan-Malaysia Joint Committee on Defense Cooperation (JCDC) has reviewed the progress in the area of defense cooperation between the two countries, an official statement said on Thursday. Defense Secretary Lt-Gen (retd) Hamid Nawaz Khan led Pakistan's delegation in the 5th meeting of the JCDC while Malaysian defense team was led by Secretary General for Defense, Ministry of Defense Dato, Sri Subhan bin Jasmon. The meeting emphasized the need for greater collaboration between the two countries in the field of defense, the statement said. It was agreed that some specific areas in the field of defense cooperation needed to be identified for the mutual benefits of two countries. The two sides were of the opinion that there is scope for defense cooperation and agreed that they should take benefits of each other's expertise in the field of defense production. The Malaysian side underscored the need for substantive cooperation in defense industry and defense science. It was also agreed that both sides would explore further avenues to avail the training facilities for the mutual benefits of both the countries. The JCDC also approved the recommendations of both the sub-committees on military cooperation and defense science, technology and industry cooperation.
