Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Board (PHDEB) is targeting Eastern European countries to enhance country s fruit and vegetable exports to that part of the world, officials said. We recently held Kinnow citrus fruit festival in Czech Republic. Pakistan s citrus fruit was well-received by the Czechs, officials said. Czech Republic is the fifth largest Mandrin citrus (Kinnow) importing country in the world only after Germany, the UK, France and Russia. The PHDEB organized the Kinnow festival at six superstores of Tesco and InterSpaar companies in the Czech capital, Prague. Officials sadi that a PHDEB delegation would visit Poland in December next to explore the market for Pakistani Kinnow in this important country of East Europe. Pakistan annually produces 13 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables. Of this, Kinnow stands at over 2 million tonnes. Last year, Pakistan recorded the highest ever export of about 200,000 tonnes of Kinnow. Pakistani Kinnow, known for its enticing aroma and easy to peel skin, is being exported to a number of countries including Middle East and the South East Asia
