Iran expressed today its willingness to attend an International Conference on Iraq scheduled to be held from May 1-4 in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm Al-Sheikh. "We are positively considering the issue and our decision will be announced within the next two days," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini told reporters in Tehran. The secretary of Iran's National Security Council, Ali Larijani, will leave for Baghdad to clear the final details on the issue and "remove ambiguities on contents of the conference," Hosseini said without giving further details. The spokesman reiterated that Iran's main hesitancy was due to the change of the initial plan upon which the neighbouring countries of Iraq plus Egypt and Bahrain would meet first to consult about the formation and agenda of the conference before finalizing the date and venue. -- SPA
