Pakistan and Indonesia has reiterated their desire to increase cooperation in the area of defense production for mutual benefit of the two brotherly countries. This was agreed at a meeting between Pakistan's Defense Production Secretary Lt-Gen (retd) Shahid Siddiq Tirmizey and Indonesian General Defense Secretary Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, according to an official statement. A detailed and comprehensive presentation was given to the Indonesian defense delegation highlighting the capability and potential of Pakistan's defense equipment manufacturing units. The Indonesian side deeply appreciated the indigenous efforts made by Pakistan for the establishment and strengthening of its defense Industry. The meeting agreed to undertake joint ventures in the area of defense production so as to benefit from each other's experience. It was also agreed to increase cooperation in the areas of training, exchange of visits by both sides and enhance interaction between defense officials of the two countries. This would tremendously contribute towards consolidating the defense ties between Pakistan and Indonesia. Both sides emphasized the need for translating the existing sentiments of cooperation into reality.
