SUDANESE MINISTER OF ENDOWMENTS DR AZHARI AL-TIJANI HAS HIGHLIGHTED THE EFFORTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC RELIEF ORGANIZATION (IIRO) IN SOME SUDANESE CITIES, VILLAGES AND RURAL AREAS. "THE IIRO HAS BEEN CARRYING OUT IMPORTANT RELIEF PROGRAMS IN MY COUNTRY," HE SAID. ON HIS PART, IIRO'S SECRETARY GENERAL DR ADNAN BIN KHALIL BASHA SAID THE IIRO HAS BEEN EXTENDING ALL POSSIBLE ASSISTANCE TO THE POOR AND NEEDY PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. HE NOTED THAT THE IIRO SPENT LAST YEAR ABOUT SR 8 MILLION FOR HELPING 4, 438 ORPHANS AND MANAGING THREE INSTITUTES WITH A STRENGTH OF 3, 567 STUDENTS. IT ALSO DISTRIBUTED LAST YEAR 62, 823 KILOGRAMS OF FOOD MATERIALS, DUG 36 WATER-WELLS AND CARRIED OUT THE DISTRIBUTION OF SACRIFICIAL MEAT PROGRAM OF EID AL-ADHA, WHICH BENEFITED 50,000 PERSONS, HE SAID. CURRENTLY, THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN MANAGING THE CAMPS OF AL-SUWEIF AND AL-SALAM FOR THE DISPLACED PEOPLE IN DARFUR, SUDAN, HE ADDED.
