Under the patronage of the General President of the Saudi Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME), Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, the First Arab Media meeting on "environment and progressive development" started here yesterday. In a speech, Prince Turki said the echo-system and the earth environment is changing and getting polluted due to natural factors or man-made ones. "The negligence or greed and excessive use of the natural resources all over the world to fulfill desires regardless of destructive consequences, the sanitation problems have increased to reach one third of the world health problems." "The lack of ecological awareness in developing countries is the reason for the spread of environmental problems. The preservation of the environment can be done by launching awareness campaign and making law that will ensure the safety of our environment," Prince Turki noted. The new environment TV channel "Beeati" is officially launched to be the first Arab channel that concerns with spreading the awareness among the Arab community. The meeting was attended by Eng. Majed George, the Egyptian environment minister.
