TO DETERMINE WHETHER RAMADAN SHOULD BE STOPPED OR COMPLETED TO 30 DAYS, A STATEMENT SAID. THE STATEMENT, ISSUED BY THE COUNCIL, ALSO REQUESTED WHOEVER HAPPEN TO SEE THE MOON TO REPORT TO THE NEAREST JUDGE OR GOVERNORATE. ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTIONS OF PROPHET MOHAMMED (PEACE BE UPON HIM), SHAWAL MOON SHOULD BE EYE SPOTTED AT THE END OF THE 29TH OF RAMADAN TO STOP FASTING, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE CONTINUED FOR ONE MORE DAY, MAKING RAMADAN A 30-DAY MONTH. A MONTH IN THE LUNAR 12-MONTH YEAR IS EITHER 29 OR 30 DAYS. RAMADAN, THE NINTH MONTH OF THE LUNAR YEAR, IS FOLLOWED BY SHAWAL.
