The crescent moon is expected to be seen on Tuesday (Sept. 30), making the first day of Eid Al-Fitr Wednesday (October 1), according to astronomical calculations. Renowned astronomer Jabr Bin Salih Al-Duweiseri has said that the Eid crescent will be visible on Monday and that Tuesday will complete the last and 30th day of this year's Ramadan. Astronomical calculations also show that the crescent for the month of Shawal – the month that follows Ramadan in the Islamic calendar - will disappear before the sun on Monday by 10 minutes, making it impossible to see it on Ramadan 29. The crescent will, however, be seen on Tuesday evening of Ramadan 30, remaining visible for a short period after sunset making Wednesday the first day of this year's Eid. Meanwhile, the Supreme Judicial Council has urged the Muslims in the Kingdom to sight the crescent of the lunar month of Shawal on Monday evening. The Council urged those who might sight the crescent to report to the nearest court for the registration of their witness or to inform the concerned authorities at the governorate of their region. – Okaz/SPA __
