POLISH FINANCE MINISTER ZYTA GILOWSKA FRIDAY TENDERED HER RESIGNATION OVER ALLEGATIONS SHE LIED IN A VETTING STATEMENT, CLAIMING SHE DID NOT KNOWINGLY COOPERATE WITH COMMUNIST- ERA INTELLIGENCE SERVICES, DPA REPORTED. GILOWSKA HAS FLATLY DENIED ANY WRONGDOING OR LYING AND DESCRIBED THE VETTING ALLEGATIONS AS "BLACKMAIL", "LIES" AND "FALSIFICATIONS." HER OFFER TO RESIGN CAME AFTER POLAND'S VETTING OMBUDSMAN REQUESTED FRIDAY THAT THE COUNTRY'S VETTING COURT RULE ON WHETHER GILOWSKA HAD LIED ABOUT COOPERATING WITH COMMUNIST-ERA SECRET SERVICES. IT WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY CLEAR WHETHER LAW AND JUSTICE PRIME MINISTER KAZIMIERZ MARCINKIEWICZ WOULD ACCEPT GILOWSKA'S RESIGNATION.
