AT LEAST EIGHT PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN TWO SEPARATE ROAD ACCIDENTS IN WESTERN NEPAL ON MONDAY, STATE-RUN NEPAL TELEVISION REPORTED. ACCORDING TO THE REPORT, FIVE PERSONS WERE KILLED AND 22 OTHERS INJURED WHEN A PASSENGER BUS CARRYING THEM MET WITH AN ACCIDENT IN FAR-WESTERN NEPAL MONDAY. THE BUS WAS ON ITS WAY FROM BAJHANG TO MAHENDRANAGAR, ABOUT 550 KILOMETRES WEST OF THE CAPITAL. NEPAL TELEVISION, QUOTING THE POLICE, SAID THE INJURED WERE BEING TREATED AT A HOSPITAL. IN ANOTHER ACCIDENT, THREE PERSONS WERE KILLED AND ABOUT A DOZEN INJURED WHEN A PASSENGER BUS FELL ABOUT 60 METRES DOWN A MOUNTAIN ROAD IN PALPA, ABOUT 200 KILOMETRES WEST OF THE CAPITAL. THE BUS WAS HEADING TOWARDS TANSEN, THE HEADQUARTERS OF PALPA DISTRICT, WHEN IT VEERED AND FELL OFF THE ROAD. NEPAL TELEVISION SAID THE INJURED WERE TAKEN TO PALPA HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT.
