RENEWED CLASHES IN GAZA CITY SUNDAY AFTERNOON BETWEEN THE RIVAL PALESTINIAN GROUPS HAMAS AND THE AL-AQSA MARTYRS BRIGADES LEFT THREE GUNMEN WOUNDED, ONE OF THEM SERIOUSLY, MEDICAL OFFICIALS AND WITNESSES SAID, ACCORDING TO DPA.
THE CLASH ERUPTED WHEN A GROUP OF AL-AQSA MILITANTS STORMED THE
HAMAS-RUN HEALTH MINISTRY, AND WERE MET WITH GUNFIRE FROM THE
BODYGUARDS OF HEALTH MINISTER BASEM N'EIM.
THE GUNFIGHT IS THE LATEST IN A SERIOUS OF ESCALATIONS BETWEEN THE
TWO GROUPS, WHICH BEGAN WHEN HAMAS DEFEATED THE FATAH MOVEMENT IN THE JANUARY 25 PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS AND TOOK OVER THE REINS OF
GOVERNMENT.
