Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi on Thursday ruled out Austria's statement on Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's meeting with Palestinian groups, calling it "an intervention in internal affairs of Iran and unacceptable." Asefi said Palestinian groups represent Palestinian people and are symbols of innocence of Palestinians, who are fighting to regain their denied rights. He stressed, "What is ugly and unpleasant both rationally and logically is contact and ties with the Zionist regime that has been violating rights of the Palestinian people and is a source of threat and instability in the Middle East." Asefi said Austrian government is expected to reconsider its attitude and type of links with the Zionist regime.
