A delegation from Qatar led by Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rehman Al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Authority for Charitable Activities, has met Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. "The way Ummah stood by Pakistan to help recover from the catastrophic earthquake of October 8 has won the hearts and minds of the earthquake affectees and the people of Pakistan," Aziz told the delegation. He said Pakistan values its relations with Qatar and other member states of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and appreciates the support extended by them in the relief and the reconstruction effort. Aziz said both Qatar and Pakistan are committed to the principles of peace, brotherhood and promoting the cause of the Muslim Ummah and will work to further develop the relations between the two countries. The prime minister said the Muslim Ummah is facing many challenges and needs to forge unity in its ranks. "It is imperative that we project Islam in its true light," he said. "We have to support each other in every way - diplomatically, politically and economically, whenever any member of the Ummah faces a major disaster like what Pakistan faced as a result of the earthquake," Aziz said.
