Yemen and the Jeddah-based organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) have urged the UN general assembly to issue a resolution condemning cartoons of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be on him), published by some European newspapers. Yemeni foreign minister Abu Bakr al-Kurbi and OIC's Secretary General Dr Ekmel-Eddin Ihsanoglu, in a telephone conversation today, underlined the importance of prevention of insulting religions and beliefs as well as prophets and messengers, and said the proposed resolution should stipulate that. The Yemeni news agency reported that al-Kurbi and Ekmel-eddin have agreed to extend an invitation for holding an extraordinary meeting for setting up strategy of international movement to confront the insulting campaign directed towards Prophet Mohammed (Peace be on him), and to prevent its recurrence in the future.
