Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Professor Ekmel-Eddin Ihsanoglu reviewed in Beijing with Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi and other officials aspects of cooperation between the OIC and China. Speaking on the occasion, Jiechi praised the role of the OIC and said China attaches a great importance to this role. He briefed Ihsanoglu on the Chinese policy towards different Chinese communities which belong to various religions and races. On his part, Ihsanoglu briefed Jiechi on the OIC's convention which advocates global peace and security on the basis of principles of mutual respect and understanding among civilizations, cultures and religions. The two sides voiced rejection to all forms of terrorism and extremism and agreed to organize a joint seminar on Islamic-Chinese relations.
