The General Secretariat of Muslim World League (MWL) has sent an open letter to the Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan denouncing malicious information campaigns against Islam and Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon Him). The League strongly condemned these campaigns particularly caricatures published in Danish Newspaper Jylland Posten and Norwegian Newspaper Magazinat on defaming Islam and ridiculing Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon Him). It called on the Secretary General, UN Organization and its affiliates particularly Higher Commission of Human Rights and UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to seriously and actively prevent these information campaigns which deviated from human behavior and violated the international law.
