Twenty-three people were killed when their bus skidded off the road and hit a tree in India's western Maharashtra state, news reports said Sunday, according to DPA. The accident happened Saturday evening in Nasik district about 200 kilometres north of Maharashtra capital Bombay, PTI news agency reported. Twenty-two people died on the spot, while one of the 40 injured succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The dead included six women and an equal number of children.
