Greek coast guard officials rushed to the aid of a boat which sank with 19 immigrants aboard, leaving one dead near the northeastern island of Mytilene, the Athens News Agency (ANA) said in a report carried by DPA Tuesday. Three coast guard vessels rushed to the location where the vessel of unknown origin sank approximately 80 meters from shore. Nineteen male immigrants were pulled safely to shore while one man was found dead. The men were taken to a hospital on the island for treatment. Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants attempt to enter European Union member Greece every year, mainly from Africa, the Middle East and neighboring Turkey. --SP 21 08 Local Time 18 08 GMT
