Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ahmed Abdulaziz Gattan has notified the Secretariat General of the Arab League of the approval of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to continue allowing the importation of Palestinian goods and products and exempting them from customs tariffs for one more year effective from 11th of Ramadan 1426 H. corresponding to October 14, 2005 due to the continual difficult circumstances the Palestinian economy has incurred. In remarks to the Saudi Press Agency, Gattan said the initiative is not a strange move by the Saudi leadership that complies with the political approach followed by the Kingdom towards the Palestinian issue which is keen to reach its goal of an independent Palestine state with Alquds as its capital.
