The Defense Ministry said Monday that two British soldiers were killed in southern Iraq. Iraqi police said that a British convoy was struck on Monday by a roadside bomb near the al-Zubeir area, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Basra, killing the troops. The names and ranks of the two soldiers weren't immediately released. "We can confirm that two soldiers from Multi-National Division Southeast died this morning at 11:30 local time from injuries sustained in a roadside bomb explosion," a ministry spokesman said, adding the pair were traveling in an armored Land Rover. The deaths brought to 95 the number of British military personnel killed in Iraq, according to a count of The Associated Press.
