Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed a woman as a vice president in charge of environment protection, state radio reported Monday. Fatemeh Javadi was named Vice President and Head of the Environment Protection Organization, the radio said. Javadi holds a doctorate in geology and was a professor at Shiraz University, southern Iran. On Sunday, the Tehran City Council appointed Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf as the new mayor of the capital city, The Associated Press reported.
