Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed Ali Saaidlu as the country's new oil minister, DPA reported. Saaidlu was born 1952 in Tabriz in northwest Iran. He studied geology in Tabriz but later obtained a masters degree and Ph.D. in strategic management from the Hartford University in Connecticut in the United States. His political career started in 1980 in the Ministries of Commerce, and Mines and Metals. In 1999 he was appointed as economic deputy in the free trade zone of the southern Persian Gulf port Kish.
