Pakistan Thursday successfully test-fired its first ever ground-launched cruise missile 'Babar' Pakistan Army said. The missile, the Hatf VII Babar, has the capability of carrying all kinds of nuclear and conventional warheads, the Inter Services Public Relations or ISPR said in a statement. "By the Grace of Allah, all design parameters for the flight were validated," the statement said and added terrain-hugging missile could reach targets up to 500 kilometres away. President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz congratulated the scientists and engineers involved in the Babar programme on their outstanding success. ISPR Director General Maj-Gen Shaukat Sultan said the missile could not be detected by radar due to sophisticated system. Sultan said that Pakistan is the first ever country of the region, which carried out cruise missile test and now Pakistan has joined the club of countries producing cruise missile.
