The Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) has slammed the blasts which took place in Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik last night, leading to the death of tens of people and causing injuries to hundreds of innocent people. A statement issued by MWL's Secretary General Dr Abdullah Al-Turki said "such terror acts run counter to the teachings of Islam." "On behalf of Muslims and the Islamic organizations represented in the MWL, the League would like to condemn these criminal acts," said the statement adding that the MWL had earlier firmly confronted terrorism and decried the terror acts which had taken place in Egypt, Britain, Spain, the USA, Indonesia, Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries. The statement urged various governments as well as official and popular Islamic organizations to forge cooperation in fighting terrorism. The statement confirmed the readiness of the MWL to cooperate with various organization in this respect.
