Three suspected rebels and two civilians were killed Saturday in separate clashes in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, an army spokesman said, bringing the number of fatalities from rebel-related violence in April to at least 76. Soldiers acting on a tip-off cordoned off Katral village in central Kashmir and raided a suspected hideout, triggering a gun fight which left two alleged rebels dead, spokesman Lt. Col. V. K. Batra said. Katral is about 75 kilometers (45 miles) south of Srinagar, the summer capital of India's Jammu-Kashmir state.
