The Vice President of Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Dato Dr. Syed Jaafar Aznan, has discussed with Pakistan's Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Amanullah Jadoon matters pertaining to IDB's cooperation in Pakistan's petroleum sector, according to an official statement. The minister briefed the IDB official on the oil and gas development activities in Pakistan including the proposed cross border pipeline projects and import of LNG to meet the energy needs after 2010. Jadoon said that the government is taking concrete steps for promoting the oil and gas sector on sound footings to meet the socio-economic growth targets. He lauded the IDB's assistance for boosting Pakistan's oil and gas sector and hoped that it would continue to extend cooperation for the mutual advantage. Dr Aznan appreciated the speedy growth of Pakistan's petroleum industry in the last few years which is contributing a lot towards flourishing of socio-economic sector. He expressed IDB's willingness to participate in the proposed gas pipeline projects and other development activities in Pakistan's petroleum sector.
