Eighty two percent hydrocarbon deposits of Pakistan are yet to be explored and all-out efforts were being made in this regard, Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Amanullah Jadoon says. Addressing oil and gas experts, the minister said that the government has accorded top priority to the speedy development of the petroleum sector on sound footings in order to meet the growing energy demands required to achieve the socio-economic growth targets of Pakistan. Jadoon said that projects to import gas Iran, Turkmenistan and Qatar were in process besides LNG imports, which would greatly help overcome the energy shortfall after 2010. The minister said that it was the prime responsibility of Pakistan's petroleum engineers and geo-scientists to equip them with the emerging technologies in the world aimed at to achieve high success rate and curtail heavy expenses on oil and gas exploration and production activities. He said that during the past few years, the petroleum sector witnessed a tremendous growth, which attracted unprecedented local and foreign investment in Pakistan.
